The “A” team.wouls like to see Colvin getting more time,at least against right handers on the road.Dex seems to have more “pop”lefty at Coors. Also, weren’t Dex’s home/road splits awful last year?

If you take Dexter out of the lineup too frequently, he’ll have trouble finding his groove. And I thought most RWOers were against “tinkering” with the lineup. IMHO, Colvin is just perfect where he is at – play any OF and 1B spelling whomever needs a break. That should be enough to get him 300-400 ABs this year. Just like EY is perfect in his own role as a “speed kills” player. Unrelated topic – Ian Stewart is batting below… Read more »

Dexter should never be in a starting major league lineup. He’s horrible!!! Start the better player Tracy!!! That’s Colvin btw

I’m on the Colvin bandwagon. My concern at first was defense. But he really tracks balls well in the OF. Play him!

CBA must be taking listens from Congress on how to craft unwieldly complex rules and regulations. How did MLB survive for 100+ years w/o this rule?

Great move??? After failing to get any outs vs the two hitters he faced Sunday, Brothers was somewhat questionably called on by Tracy tonight with Rox ahead 2-1 in 7th after another gutty performance by Moyer. Brothers pitched to four batters,,,double, single, double, walk…very likely costing Rox a win. This was even more baffling given that of those four hitters only the first was a lefty. It looks like management will have to assess where Brothers fits, certainly not as… Read more »

And Brothers pitched to 2 on Sunday: walk, single.
That’s 6 in a row.

Not sure who you can go to other than Brothers. That’s the problem with having only 3 relievers you trust now, although Brothers is losing that trust real fast. Why’d Tracy give up on Matt Reynolds?

Hate how this robbed Cargo of his impressive game. Reminds me of how Fuentes choked away 2 or 3 awesome games that Tulo was the hero in 2007.

Sorry guys, just finished the game and I’m beat (and depressed). I can do a post game in the morning unless someone gets one up before I get to it.

Yep, and I am still proudly the official chairman of the SU Barmes must be Super Utility band wagon. However I knew that SU Barmes would have a great game against the Rockies, but I have no clue why the Rockies were still pitching to him in that (homer) situation. And those three hits likely doubled his hitting production for the 2012 season and he is just now approaching the Mendoza line. Let me count the reasons – I would… Read more »

Wow, many on here and ITR were exhalting Brothers as the heir apparent closer. A few bad outings and????????????

Yep he is in a rut. Maybe he is just another LH pitcher like Franklin and will blossom once on another team?

He will be fine.

But Barmes was such a nice guy. And if I remember correctly didn’t he kill us in Houston one game last year? Since Brothers obviously needs to step back into lower leverage situations until he gets it together, let me put in my pitch for Matt Reynolds. We’ve been hearing about how he isn’t as effective against lefties. That’s where stats (specifically, the misuse of stats) hurt rather than help. Superficially, that looks to be the case. Last year: vs.… Read more »

Excellent stats, Ag, about MReynolds.

If memory serves me, Nelson made the last out of the 6th inning. I thought Moyer should have gone out for the 7th inning. Then we could have gone Belisle-Betancourt to close out the game. All in hindsight. But I’m a believer in that if the SP is throwing well, keep him going until PH replaces him.

Personally, I think Barmes was the scapegoat of having 7 players who were underperforming. Brad Hawpe Clint Barmes Ian Stewart Chris Iannetta Dexter Fowler to lesser extent Helton and Smith Remember FISSH? The only reason it wasn’t FISSHHB is because Hawpe and Barmes were already cast off. From a 8th hole hitter, do you really expect more than a slick fielding 2B with occasional pop? The problem is Ian Stewart and Chris Iannetta were also 8th hole hitters. Never mind… Read more »
