Rockies Welcome Diamondbacks to Coors Field

The Rockies will attempt to prevent Arizona Diamondbacks from climbing up the NL West standings starting tonight at 6:40 p.m.  Jhoulys Chacin opposes Ian Kennedy tonight while Jorge Delarosa and Juan Nicasio start the remaining two games of the three-game series.  The game will be aired on ROOT Sports television and KOA 850 radio.

A good series against the D-bags will boost the Rockies’ confidence going into the next series when the Atlanta Braves come calling Monday.  In 2012, the Rockies were 8-10 vs. Arizona going 4-5 at both Coors Field and Chase Field.  With the temperatures in the 40s at game time, the hitters should continue to mash at the plate.  They lead the National League in BA, runs, RsBI, OBP, slugging, OPS, and stolen bases.  Being good students of Dante Bichette by being patient and not swinging for the fences, they are second in the NL for free passes.  If the Rox are looking for a psychological edge, they are 6-0 in games played on Friday, Saturday, and (yes!) Sundays.

News flash: Chris Volstad optioned; Josh Outman recalled in the Rox’ first in-season transaction.

We knock the Rockies “easy” early schedule and how the Rockies may not be as good as the record indicates, but the Mets-Brewers-Padres-Dbacks are a combined 28-20 against teams other than the Rockies with each of them being at .500 or better.
