They better start fast and get well above.500 because the last 35 days are pretty brutal.
Probably worth noting here Root has announced Tom Helmer and Alanna Rizzo’s replacements.. The Denver Post reports: “Roots Sports filled out its Rockies broadcast lineup today, announcing the hiring of Joel Klatt and Jenny Cavnar. Both have deep Colorado roots. Klatt, the former University of Colorado quarterback, will be the on-air host of the Rockies pregame show and the Toyota Postgame Shows. Cavnar will be both a sideline reporter and a host. The duo replaces two longtime Roots Sports personalities.… Read more »
I have nothing against Joel Klatt but listening to him on the radio, I always got the impression that talking baseball was like being at the dentist; something he had to do but didn’t like. I must confess that most of my listening came when he was paired with CJ so maybe that had something to do with his lack of passion. Or perhaps lack of passion is something Root Sports wanted. Either way, both the “dismissal” of Helmer and… Read more »
Jenny is Purdy!!!!
Klatt isn’t terrible but if this was the “different direction” they were talking about, I agree with rox4brains…YAWN.
For the games I won’t be in attendance for, it will be sound off on the tv and hello Jack and Jerry.
Agreed, not excited about Klatt. So I have a question. Wife and I are doing some penny pinching and a have had the DirecTV “uber pack” with all the fox and ROOT affiliates as well as the MLB extra innings (obviously we’re out of the Rockies local market). So we’re scaling back and are just going to get the MLBTV package for computers, etc. Is there ANY way to see the pre/post shows without having ROOT Rocky Mtn?? Not complaining… Read more »
Hey TJ, Im down the road from you in Gilbert. I have the extra innings package but I got the Computer package last year for a month and from I remember as soon as a game was over they cut it off. I really only got it the computer package for when the Rockies played AZ I cannot stand D-Backs local coverage Mark Grace is about the only thing good so I would listen to KOA. Now I know if… Read more »
I’ve had extra innings for 3 or 4 seasons now. Pre-game no. Post game “maybe”. There are times after some games they do show the post game shows. Not always but sometimes. Seems like it happens more with the Giants than any other team.
I have had the mlbtv.com package for a couple of years now and it has been the best solution for me. Yes, the picture is not quite up to my DirecTV. Yes, you don’t get the pre- and post-game shows. What I do get is the ability to watch the Rockies no matter where I am. I was in Beijing, China from late March thru April last year and was able to watch all the games while gone. (If you’re… Read more »
If MLB had local games I’d drop Direct Tv in a second. As it is have to wait 90 minutes to watch a game, but I’ve been contemplating going to bed earlier each day anyway…could wake up early each morning and watch the game before work.
It the TV blackout for Saturday road games that really get my goat each year. If my count is right there are only two this year: 5/26 @ Reds and 9/15 @ Padres. Maybe the 9/15 game gets picked up by Fox but would seem unlikely. What is odd about about no TV on 5/26 is that the game time is outside the FOX window. (5:15 Mountain)
