Rox Brass on Hot Seats Or Are They?

The Colorado Rockies have been playing so bad that they have lost 16 of their last 18 games despite playing several games at Coors Field.  Could that be enough to finally shake up the personnel near the top of the command chain including the Montforts?  Montforts very doubtful unless he goes Don Silver on us.  But Bill Geivett and Dan O’Dowd should be feeling the hot coals on their butts and feet.  Tulo has again been benched for another day due to a sore groin.  Boone Logan was activated and Ryan Wheeler was optioned to Colorado Springs.  Jorge De La Rosa (8-6, 4.86), who provided the two wins in this long slump, opposes Dan Haren (8-4, 3.57) of the Los Angeles Dodgers.

IMO DLR can’t be traded. He is the only thing resembling a professional pitcher we have. Why was he removed-pitch count?

Gary, I have the same question. I didn’t turn on the game until it was 8-7 but was following a bit on the phone. Was DLR tired or shaky in the 6th? Or was it just the Rockies self-imposed 100 pitch limit? All that 100 pitch limit does is waste your bull-pen. Yes, sometimes a guy throws a 100 pitches and he’s done, sometimes he’s not. I have no idea what the case was this time but I’m guessing Walt… Read more »

Post game show says he was right at 100 and tiring.

He was better tiring than the two who followed him. Ottavino was very good with a really tough job. Hawk after having some work, even though that game wasn’t good showed with some work can give a good game. I was really impressed that he threw 97 on one pitch.

Next favorite chestnut: They killed my father, and now they’re coming after me. Well, my health was saved for one more day. Barely. Good freak’in holy mol’in ****. The bullpen did its job?!? Barely. I guess we are reduced to “maybe the Rockies will win today.” Next favorite chestnut: “even a blind squirrel….” You know. A big part of my problem, ALL else aside, is that they have stolen a huge part of the pleasure of summer. That’s on me,… Read more »

The Monforts would have no one to choose the next GM if they fired O’Dowd and Geivett. The Rocks have too little baseball knowledge in the front office to hire any more baseball knowledge.

RoxnSox-I’m there with you, watching baseball is what lets me escape the day to day grind, so to have the Rockies in such a dismal place so soon just bums me out more than anything and instead of enduring a summer in Phoenix with the escape of my favorite team, I just have to endure the summer in Phoenix. hmmm As far as the hot seat– As long as folks keep coming to the ballpark and spending money, nothing will… Read more »
