I didn’t watch Sunday’s game opting to watch the Niners-Packers. However I kept track a bit on my phone and really couldn’t figure out why they lifted Bettis. I checked the box score and saw he didn’t throw that many pitches. And then I read the write-up in today’s DP. You gotta be kidding me. Giving Roy Oswalt a tryout???? Unbelievable. The clowns running this team should be fired immediately. Bettis had a chance for his first ML victory and… Read more »

Riproaring to last place again. Injuries, you know.

Yep, Giants can drop us back into our familiar spot, last place. All it takes is one more loss tonight. Can’t say I’m bothering to watch anymore, but I did catch Dickerson standing there like a statue in the outfield letting a routine fly ball drop ten feet from him. De La Rosa would have to run the table to get to 20 wins this year, and with a weak lineup like this behind him I don’t see that happening.… Read more »

Roy Owsalt is listed as Saturday’s starter. Really. I am not making this up. And more evidence in the “who the hell is in charge of player evaluation around here?” category: Saunders in the Post today reports that LeMahieu’s excellent play has him “entrenched” at 2B. He had a fine game. He’s a very good fielder. He is a really poor hitter: 76 RC+, or is you prefer an 80 OPS+ (100 is average). Congratulations, Rockies, you have developed a… Read more »

I hate that every September except for the rare 2007 and 2009 seasons we’ve had nothing to care about around here. How the O’Dowd/Geivett gang sticks around forever without success is one of the unknowable mysteries of life. Maybe the compromising Monfort photograph theory has some validity. God knows it isn’t because they’re good at what they do. It sure doesn’t hurt that Denver is a Bronco town and most of the paying public (who come out in great numbers… Read more »

Haven’t bothered to watch for the past couple of weeks, but manage to occasionally check the score on my ESPN app. I noticed last night that Ottavino pitched the 10th inn. What I have a question on and perhaps someone who watched the game can explain to me as to why, with so many lefties in the BP, was Ottavino allowed to pitch to the lefty hitting Belt? It’s no wonder that this team has had the record in Sept… Read more »

Sure glad we changed hitting coaches. Dante Bichette has really made a difference!. Oops this isn’t April, this is a 6 month season and the Rockies plan to bring back all the old-time stars has failed. Last year the piggy-back relievers failed, so a new plan was needed this year. Unfortunately DoD and Geivett will come up with another “new” plan for next year. I know some of you knock my “dirty pictures” theory of why O’Dowd and his crew… Read more »

Bill,

Its not the Management, it is the owners who think they can get by with less than a decent product year after year. When we do have a good year I think it is a fluke since we have some pretty consistently awful ones. I may have to go back to the Cubs. At least I know they are going to lose…

Julie. Correct it’s the ownership which keeps the management in place, no matter what the results.
