Rox Looking to Cook Zito

After a semi-successful road trip where the Rockies didn’t completely embarrass themselves, going 4-6 back East, the Rockies will take to Coors against the always hated Giants tonight for three.

This evening’s game will be the first in a 10 game homestretch that will also include a visit from the Reds and the Dodgers.  The Rox have won seven of their last nine home games, reaching back to July 26th.  The pitching is as follows:

• LHP Barry Zito will make his 27th apperance/23rd start of the 2013 season tonight. Zito is 0-7 with a 9.45 ERA (40.0 ip, 42 er) in 11 games/9 starts on the road this season. He is 8-4 with a 2.98 ERA (148.0 ip, 49 er) in his 24 career games/22 starts vs. COL.

Listened to the pregame with Corrigan and Weiss and wanted to kill myself out of boredom. Heard a classic line that Tulo is being held out due to “trainers holding him out and stuff”. I think that’s verbatim Weiss quote. “Stuff” being that the Monforts and Geivett believe the fewer games we hold our stars out in the better the end of year “injury” excuse works. Heard him say that he “thinks” Cargo may play again this season. In other… Read more »

Prog, I heard some of that too. Krieger noted that at this point in the season most clubs have a player who’s played in 125-130 games. Not the Rockies. We rest ’em up. Cargo right now needs to rest up for what’s really important: Venezuelan winter ball. Tulo needs to rest up for what’s really important for him: Camp Tulo in Vegas this winter. re: Cuddy last year

I remember him saying he was good to go about a week before they announced they were shutting him down. Why risk injury when the season is already lost? Unbelievable accept with the Rox.

Can you imagine the Giants shutting down Barry Bonds for all the seasons they didn’t make the playoffs or Baltimore shutting down Ripken or Yankees shutting down Don Mattingly or Cubs shutting down Andre Dawson or Ryne Sandberg. Careers are fleeting enough as they are, no need to rob the paying public of their players just to fulfill your desire to claim “injuries” as being the reason your team sucks. We suck because of shitty management, poor coaching staffs, and… Read more »

Great to put down those Giants. Last place till the end! Wilton Lopez, where were you when it mattered? I like Charlie Blackmon.

Lopez has been really solid the past month as ERA drop reflects.May still be guy Rox thought he was and could be 8th inning guy next year with Brothers the new closer.

See I told you Lopez would be o.k. Never overreact to a few good/bad appearances by a reliever! Great to see the Giants struggling too.
