Tyler Chatwood and Stephen Strasburg went head to head with both hurlers giving up just a run each; Tyler in six innings and Strasburg in seven innings. The difference was Ian Desmond’s solo home run off Manny Corpas in the seventh inning. That allowed Strasburg to pick up his victory by a 2-1 score. Chatwood’s line was 6 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, and 4 K.
The bats have yet to thaw after vacationing in Canada. Six times the runners were left in scoring position with two outs and a seventh runner (Josh Rutledge) was brought home on DJ LeMahieu’s single. Corey Dickerson did not appear in the game, but he was on deck when Rutledge made the 27th out with Herrera (pinch ran for Todd Helton) on first base.
The Rockies dropped below .500 for the first time since Opening Day. Tomorrow it will be Jhoulys Chacin’s turn to snap the five-game losing streak. The game will start in the morning at 10:05 am.
Wish they hadn’t teased us for two and a half months (I know, all is not yet lost, but it sure feels like the bad old days). Absolutely zero clutch hitting. OK, 1 percent.
Tulo’s absence is huge, but we’ve still got hitters and none of em are hitting! And another brilliant starting pitching effort for naught! !#^%>#%!!
Off topic, but Pomeranz had a good outing tonight. He gave up 2 runs in 7 innings. He’s getting closer.
I have no problems with pitching. The Blake Street Bunnies just went stone cold just at the time pitching started to gel. We need the bats to get going now. Its time we put Dickerson in the lineup Saturday morning. Cargo needs to stop looking like an easy out and get back to normal.
Warning, warning you are now approaching terminal velocity.PULL UP NOW,pull up now before its too late!
Its all about confidence. Tulo being out hurts their fragile minds more than anything else. Tulo only hit in 4 innings a game. Pretty sure this team knew how to score in all those other innings without him, why can’t they figure it out?
Team needs a lineup shakeup. Even moving Cargo to leadoff could trigger something.
Wow! I left town Monday and the Rox can’t win a road game. Haven’t had an internet connection nor cable/satellite hookup here in Montana since I left. I did get an opening day in Missoula with the Osprey (D-backs) squeezing out a one run W over the Brewers despite 6 Es. I’ll dig down into the GJrox and see what’s goin’ on there. I see they’re 2-0 and can only think that the boys are playin’ well. I’m at a… Read more »
