Rox Off to Quick 2-0 Start

The Colorado Rockies rolled to another victory by a 5-2 score over the Milwaukee Brewers.  It is the first 2-0 start to the season since 2001.  In addition they tied the major league record for  most doubles by a team since 1900.  Lost in the record setting performance was the fact that the Rockies set a club record for most scoreless innings to start the season with 13.  In the process, they picked up their first road series win of the season no matter how Eddie Butler pitches.

The Rockies have played a very sound baseball over the first two games.  Two straight quality starts.  Bullpen 8 Ks and 0 BB over 5 innings.  No TOOTBLANs.  Zero Es. No WP and no PB.  2 HBP which is too many for 2 games.  We haven’t even needed John Axford, Brooks Brown, and Christian Bergman with the day off coming Thursday.

The Rockies after a quiet start to the game got five runs in the middle three innings.  Fine China, CarGo, NoDo, and Corey Dickerson did their usual work at the office tonight with a barrage of doubles.  It is nice to produce runs without a need for the long ball.  The offense recorded just six strikeouts tonight, two by the pitcher and one by a pinch hitter (I don’t really count them).

Enjoy the victory parade for another 24 hours.

Still will be in first regardless of outcome 2day, albeit in a tie with two teams since the other 4 are 1-1 and playing each other. Should Giants and Pads win today, then their matchup tomorrow will leave one of them a half game up IF the Rox lose 2 nite. They’ll remain 1st alone with these combinations: Giants and Pads lose tonite, if Rox win they’ll be up one over LA & Az Giants win, Pads lose tonite, then… Read more »

Wow! A perfect record in the Post-Dan O’ Dowd Era (PDODE).
Or should that be the Post Greatest Genius General Manager of All Time Era (PGGGMOATE)?
Pick yer acronym, people.
We can celebrate this for 20 hours.
Woo-hoo!

So here’s the thing…..we’re all aware that baseball is a very superstitious sport. With that in mind, should I consider extending my vacation to aid the Rox win streak? Will Monfart pay the bill? I’m willing to do this for the team.

worth a shot just extending and sending in your receipts to the team for reimbursement!

As long as we are on the negative vibe. The last two days have featured 6 fly balls from Kendricks, Friedrich, Lyles (3) and Logan that all would have been gone at Coors. Now, they weren’t out of a good hitters park, and maybe the key is that none of them were barreled up, but still, a lot of luck involved (I did think the one against Boone between the Ks was gone and barreled up pretty good). Then there… Read more »
