Rox Remain On Track For Worst Coors Field Record

Today, Chad Bettis had a quality start giving up two runs over six innings.  Meanwhile the Rockies scratched out four runs for a 4-2 lead after six.  Scott Oberg gave up no runs in the seventh.  Then Jairo Diaz came on in the eighth and had two outs & two on.  Walt Weiss wanted to test Diaz and see if he can get out of the inning while Boone Logan was warmed up and ready to come in.  Instead WW probably sealed his own fate leaving Diaz in to face Pedro Alvarez.  Boom, and the Rockies lose 5-4 being swept by the Pittsburgh Pirates.  The fans came to see the Rockies win, not to see spring training in September.

The whole season the Rockies’ offensive attack at home has been dismal or worse.  Only four runs off Charlie Morton?  Yeah everyone talks about how difficult it is to pitch at Coors.  But what about the visitors?  They came into the house and came away with more wins than losses despite the trio of Tulo, NoDo, and CarGo for the majority of the season.

The  Pirates owe the Rockies a bunch of X-mas gifts for letting them sweep us to keep them ahead of the Cubs and stay in touch with the Cardinals.

Ten or nine games left for WW, CarGo, Kendrick, McKenry, and others to enjoy their rides before moving on to other teams (or out of baseball).  Plus Montfort will start noticing empty seats for next year.

With Gray and JDLR shutdown the remaining games are literally to be like ST games. I got my Bergman start and I’m ready for him to go back to BP.I am no better judge of talent than the powers in charge of this fiasco.I’m hoping for great playoffs so the the old man of summer[me] can have alittle joy before the chill of winter puts me in hibernation.

Gary – you’re doing no better or worse in the talent judging department than anyone else. Problem is, you’re trying to “judge” from a pool that is major league fringy, and similar.

Nice write up RMH. I agree. You hit on a couple of points that have had me scratching my head for a few seasons. I’m not sure if you can go into the archive on here but I would love to re-post my “I think I have more east coast mentality in me than I thought” here.

with just over a week remaining – it’s worth one final in-season standings visit. In the AL, KC has clinched the Central. The Blue Jays have a small working margin in the East. Marcus Stroman coming back now gives them two front of the rotation starters for the playoffs. The Yanks maintain control of the WC. Texas leads the West. It appears as though Houston, LAA, and Minn will via for the final WC slot, with Huston having a slight… Read more »
