Rox Reserves Behind Nicasio Tonight

And the hits just keep a comin’…

Nope, not the good kind of hits.  The Rockies are getting punched from every which way thanks to freak issues nobody could have dreamed up at the beginning of the season.  To have Nolan out with a broken finger is one thing, that can be explained.  But having a potential “tumor” on CarGo’s finger is another thing entirely.

On the one hand, for the doctors to actually find something during the “exploratory surgery” is great.  The fact that they found a “small tissue or tumor which will be biopsied” isn’t the news you’d think would come out of Dougie’s mouth.

Add to that Cuddyer AND Butler both going on the DL in the last few days makes for a very bad June.

There is one good piece of news in all of this: If you were looking to see Tyler Matzek pitch, now’s your chance.  He is slated to debut tomorrow against the Braves.

Tonight’s lineup VS the Braves:

1. Brandon Barnes (R) RF
2. Corey Dickerson (L) LF
3. Troy Tulowitzki (R) SS
4. Wilin Rosario (R) C
5. Drew Stubbs (R) CF
6. Justin Morneau (L) 1B
7. Josh Rutledge (R) 2B
8. DJ LeMahieu (R) 3B
9. Juan Nicasio (R) P

I’m out of town and just pulled into motel. Check the Rockies box score. 7 runs in the first for the Braves and Nicasio stays to give up even more runs. Finally found a pitcher in Kahnle to stop the bleeding and they take him out for Chad Bettis. Again, I didn’t watch the game so maybe the box score is lying, but Bettis gives us a bunch of runs. Tell me again why Weiss is still the manager and… Read more »

Bill, enough of the Nicasio experiment. And why Bettis? I’ll make Jeem happy and say, “we’re paying Wilin, he pitched o.k. in the Springs, he certainly has a better track record than Bettis … and we dumped him anyway. This collapse phase is never fun … I actually kind of enjoy the upcoming youth movement phase. Let’s get on with it.
