Rox Seek Series Upset Win vs. Giants

After an impressive job done by the Rox bullpen yesterday, Colorado seeks a rare series win at AT&T Park today.  Tyler Chatwood will be making his first start of the season after being activated off the DL list today.  The corresponding move has not yet been decided.  Early reports say that Brett Anderson’s left index ballooned up overnight and he will be getting x-ray and possible MRI tomorrow.  If Anderson has a fractured finger, it might be the first time in MLB history that a batter fractured his finger hitting the ball above the label of the bat.

Update:  It is Charlie Culberson that was optioned.  Another move is possible before Anderson’s next start unless his finger recovers in a hurry.  This allows the Rockies to keep a squad of eight firemen for the time being.  If Anderson goes on DL later this week, might Jhoulys Chacin come back a little sooner or will it be Kerosene for a couple of starts so the bullpen can conduct fire fighting drills?

The longest losing streak this year has been two accomplished once in the first two games of the season.  The longest win streak is also two which was accomplished just once (2 vs. Arizona).  The Rockies hope to end the yo-yo pattern and start an upward trend.

Aside from 2 really bad pitches, we did pretty good. If we tighten the screws a bit here and there I think this team has potential to be over .500 at season’s end.

I’m hoping you are right but I think I will stick with 76 wins.

Tell me again why WW would lift Ottavino after only a single inning, when it’s still tied. Matchups (lefty versus lefty) for Crawford? Jeesh.

Also, seems like Rocks batters REALLY, REALLY like to first pitch swing, no matter what the situation or the inning (I’m looking at you NoDo). I would think a little more discretion is in order in latter innnings.
