The big news of the day, for us RWO’rs (besides Dex’s birthday!) is that David Kandilas has been told to Suit-up and be ready to play in today’s Rox/Rangers game. His Dad told RWO:
Crousett is the only other minor league OF there. 3B coach Lachman said they will both get on at some stage. We will be listening to game 2.05 pm start I’m told. Very exciting ! The club has been so good to David lately and he’s in a very good place. And hitting very well. Thanks again so much for everyone on the site being so supportive!
Chacin was penciled in to start against the Rangers, but was scratched a bit ago due to lower-back spasms. The team says it isn’t serious and he is still pegged for opening day. Chatwood will start in his place.
Christian Friedrich will be the starter in the other game of the day against the Giants.
Both game start shortly after 2:00.

GO David!
Just heard Rox are only 1 of 3 teams in the NL with a record over .500 in spring training.
Back to back home runs against betancourt…not good.
Followed by two doubles. Damn.
Final line: 2/3 an inning, 5 hits, 4 runs (2 HR’s)
From the official site: “Chatwood began the day with three scoreless innings before giving up four runs in the fourth. Chatwood did not come out for the fifth. He allowed four runs on five hits and four walks with three strikeouts. His ERA for the spring is now 6.16, opponents are hitting .311 off him and he has allowed 13 walks in 19 innings.” On a related note, Chris Iannetta is hitting .405 this spring for the Angels. Apparently he… Read more »
Oh, and Friedrich got hammered today too in his return. I really thought that one of the young starter candidates would have a good spring — is one out of 3 too much to ask for? Guess so.
I had thought it was Chatwood who was going to figure things out, and Pomeranz would start in AAA. Not unhappy its the other way around. Am unhappy its not both, especially with the spectre of ‘back spasms’. I honestly don’t know who they’ll put in there to pitch if Chacin (or any of the other 4) can’t go this year. No one of consequence. Will Nacasio make it an entire year without injury? DLR? The chances aren’t good. Who’s… Read more »
So it’s clear that Chatwood and Friedrich are two fifths of the CS April starting rotation. And there’s no way that we make it through the whole year with a rotation of Chacin, DLR, Nicasio, Francis and Pomerantz. We know that there will be at least some injuries. And in an ideal world Nicasion and Pomerantz would start the year at CS as well and work on things in AAA. So, the only way this season isn’t a disaster is… Read more »
“…it could be really ugly again” That pretty well sums it up for 2013 Rockies fans!
when you do nothing proactive all winter and then troll for cast offs that no one else wants the chance for an upgrade is nil.No one player,Nelson et.al.will net anything of consequence.Every team knows we are desperate.Only packaging some players from our semi starters and raft of AAAA also rans MIGHT net something of value. If Chris and Seth didn’t yield great results then obviously it will take something like 3 or 4 for one to get even another fifth type… Read more »
