I feel like my dad or grandpa, sitting here in a largely radio-distant location, with my crappy little transistor radio near to a window as I can get (is it even a transistor radio? It’s pretty darn basic for the century, anyway). I really want to hear how Friedrich does. Soft spot for him.

Ooh! Strike three on a bender as he gets going. Static/reception not TOO bad 🙂

Sorry, I’m working on repairing the chat. It was really acting up last time.

Right, sdcarp — great reports! Wish I was there. Dbacks young stud pitcher Archie Bradley blowing us away in the split squad nitecap. Stubbs leading off, 2 ABs, 2 strikeouts. Yeah, Bradley is a righty. Kind of glad to see that since my nightmare is that Stubbs has flukey spring success against righties and they start playing him everyday leading off. Friedrich allowed some hits and walks but struck out 3. He’s rusty, but the strikeouts suggest the stuff is… Read more »

News today out of the Angels camp:
Ian Stewart was hit in the nose by his daughter. He’s listed day to day.

Insert joke here.

Ha! Classic. After getting hit in the nose he asked his daughter for a raise or to cut him free.

I saw this bit of news not long after I made my prediction that LeMahieu will win the 2nd base job and be the leadoff hitter and thought that’s a trade O’Dowd won (not to mention the fact we got one nice year out of Colvin also).

Agbayani, I agree with you on Kahnle and Martin.

Given the strings attached to Kahlne…….I think there’s a great chance he makes the Club. I’ll say this……if it comes down to choice between Kahlne and Corpas, I take Kahlne everyday of the week, and twice on Sunday.

sdcarp, I’d like to believe you on Kahnle, but they let go of last year’s Rule 5er, lefty starter Danny Rosenbaum, at the end of spring training. No, Rosenbaum was never going to be more than a replacement level 5th starter. But they let him go because Jon Garland was brought in to, umm, stabilize the rotation … and we wound up with a far worse than replacement level 5th starter all season long. Look, this team projects as anywhere… Read more »

I agree with RMH’s Kahlne analysis…..chances are good he breaks Camp with the Club due to favorable circumstances (for him…..Chacin’s injury, busy early schedule, other’s having options, etc.). I’ll be the first to admit I don’t fully understand the Rule 5 procedure……but not only does he have to make the team, I believe I’m also correct in saying he has to stay with the team a significant percentage of the year. So even if he clears the first hurdle, he’ll… Read more »

I do know that some of the Rule 5 draftees have spent a considerable amount of time on the DL and still been retained by their new team. Carvajal was a Rule 5 Draft pick of the Brewers in Dec. 2004 from the Dodgers. The Brewers sold him to the Rockies who kept him on the 25 man roster all season and then traded him to Seattle in Dec. 2005 for Yorvit Torrealba. The Mariners traded him to Tampa Bay… Read more »
