Rox Struggle to Beat Giants 10-9

It was a seesaw game that looked similar to Thursday night’s fugly loss. This time the Rockies came out on top of the Giants 10-9. The Gnats jumped out to a quick four-run lead mid second inning. Then the Rox took advantage of four errors in one inning to knot the score at 4-4 after three innings. As usual the Giants immediately reclaimed the lead 5-4 after four innings. After several hitters worked Bumgarner into several deep counts and a bases loaded situation, Jordan Pacheco sat on the inside fastball and crushed the ball to left field for his first grand slam of his career to take a 9-5 lead after five.

CarGo added a solo homer in the next inning which turned out to be a game winner. The Giants made a valiant comeback to close the deficit to 10-9 after eight. Dexter Fowler’s highlight reel catch of Angel Pagan’s liner saved a critical run. There was a popular belief that the Rox will once again let the game slip away and lose. Rafael Betancourt had other ideas. Enough of the drama according to Betty. He went out and struck out the side while getting the Mo Rivera treatment from HP ump Bob Davidson.

The men in purple has two more games at home remaining versus the Giants with a chance to take the series. Tomorrow it will be Chatwood opposing Crybaby Timmy and Nicasio taking on softball pitcher Barry Zito.

just read about “scuffGate”…Way to go Tulo – call the Giants out on a suspect ball…we can play at that game too! Tulo is hitting well, so it isn’t a guy struggling trying to blame the pitcher…if he honestly thought he saw a black spot on the ball (what concentration to see it before he hit it), then by all means – call it to the umps attention.

I only remember 1 pitch that may have been outside where Betty got the strike call. Most were swings and misses.

It was good to see that Marco “I don’t commit errors unless I’m wearing purple” Scutaro dropped a ball.

I see from my rating that Marco Scutaro also follows RWO.

That was an absolutely bizzare game. Again we sat there in totally disbelief. I’m actually surprised we won.

I beginning to sense Mike that you have a similar feeling about Scutaro as Ego does about Dex? Have you seen how many errors Scutaro has made this season? Most second baseman wouldn’t be around if they had that many errors and only May. It has nothing to do with the Rockies.

Valid point Mike. He has 7 in 38 games. Last year he committed them at about the same rate in SF as he did in COL (approx 1 per 15 games).
As far as my feelings go, I don’t like any guy who helps a team I absolutely hate. Dex may have flaws, but as long as he is wearing purple I am going to support him.

The game last night was exciting, I’ll say that. Lots of action, both good and bad. We sat midway into right field, up close. One thing that didn’t make the papers — EY Jr played a pretty bad right field. Couldn’t find the Pence ‘triple’. Couldn’t pick up another ball until trying several times. Bad throws in as runners were scoring. Overall, I wasn’t impressed. I think Blackmon should be our 4th (and with Cuddy out, third) outfielder.

Sure was a fun game to watch, but I seriously thought we were going to lose…..just no faith, I guess. But what a 9th inning by Betty!!!
