Welcome back to RWO; I just returned from my vacation to Puerto Vallarta feeling refreshed and ready to work as a RWO reporter whether the Rox are hot or cold. Jaredean is on a self imposed leave of absence due to family needs and two jobs. Dr_Christopher is on the mend from the Rockies’ beatdown on him and will contribute when he’s available. Jeem will retain his contribution on a weekly review of the Rockies. We apologize for the lack of updates the last few days. Even the RWO “staff” needs to get away from the Rocky Horror Picture Show when the scenes get gory. The staffers thank all RWOers for providing updates, comments, and stats while the web site took a little bit of a hiatus.
As we can guess, another hot team comes to town for a three-game set starting tonight with the intent of brewing the Rockies the entire weekend. Christian Bergman, arguably our best starting pitcher, toes the rubber against the Brewers’ worst starter Marco Estrada. The Brew Crew are led by Carlos Gomez and Jonathon Lucroy and they have stayed relatively healthy for the most part. The Rockies as usual will counter with M*A*S*H patients. Bergman will be followed by Christian Friedrich and Tyler Matzek. All three pitchers began the season in AAA. The Brewers counter with Wily Peralta and Kyle Lohse on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
The Rockies are coming off a 3-3 California trip which is normally a good trip, but it feels empty. The last game was a near perfect game (1 error) thrown by Clayton Kershaw to go along with 15 strikeouts on just 107 pitches. Kershaw had just two or three counts (or so it seemed) that reached two balls the whole night. Tonight will be a big test of resiliency as Dr. C loves to talk about with the Rockies. The Rockies should be able to bring their bats to the ball park tonight with so-so Estrada on the bump. Bergman’s task will be to allow fewer runs than Estrada.
Walt Weiss will continue to roll the dice trying Josh Rutledge at third base and putting Brandon Barnes into the lineup instead of Drew Stubbs. Nick Massett is still serving his three-game suspension for old school retaliation on Evan Gattis of the Braves. Massett will be available Saturday.
