Rox Turn to Sunday Lineup For Sweep

The turnstiles at the Rockies’ clubhouse has been spinning like crazy this past week.  Turnstile #1 – exit to the Quarantine List.  Turnstile #2 – exit to the Union Station for a bus trip to Colorado Springs.  Turnstile #3 – entrance to the clubhouse.  Charlie Clobberson, Ryan Wheeler, Mike McKenry, and Jhoulys Chacin arrived through #3 turnstile.  Chad Bettis went to the Union Station.  Josh Rutledge and Baby Bull were placed in the quarantine unit with viral infections.

As a result, Walt Weiss is going to use a Sunday lineup today in their fifth attempt of the season to complete a sweep.  The Rockies will have to beat the best starting pitcher on the Mets’ staff in Dillon Gee.  Jhoulys Chacin will make his first start of 2014 without Fine China.  Today is renovation day for the china cabinet.  In his place will be yesterday’s hero, Clobberson.  Moving into the cleanup spot will be that guy who makes the daily “Plays of the Day” on a daily basis who also swings a lethal bat.  A hit today will make it a 24-game hitting streak.  Money owns the club record at 27.

Just looked at the line-up for today and had to ask…is it 2012? Did Jim Tracy kidnap Walt Weiss and holding him captive until he returns Tracy’s copy of “the rules” for handling bullpens? Wow…this is a weird line-up. While they are not the “Never Win” Rockies on Sunday a few years back they have: Lost to Dbacks (Miley’s soft-tossing machine 5-3) Lost to Giants (5-4 on Chatwood debut and Rex walk-off homer to Crawford) Lost to Phillies (10-9 game… Read more »

Rockies are 13/34 in their history against Gee (he has been their ace so far this year so obviously based on prior years):

Nolan 1/3
Blackmon 1/4
Cloberson 0/3
Dickerson 1/3
CarGo 3/4 (1 homer plus 2 BB)
DJ 3/4
Morneau 1/2
(Tulo was 2/4 with a HBP but not playing…hope the elbow didn’t get hurt last night)
