Rox v Braves, Game 2 – And the new next arm to pitch…isn’t Gray :(

Little did I know that this June when I went to lovely Manchester, England (no really, my favorite big city in the world – better than London, or New York or Chicago or Berlin – as well as the place with one of the highest rated PhD in the area of my study) that it would be the only period of extended warm and sunny weather of my whole summer. I also saw the best played ball of my whole summer. Of course it was cricket and I don’t understand cricket and….hate cricket. But they played better baseball than the Rox have this year…and they don’t play baseball!!!

Last night saw an evening of rain and relievers and ick!!! Let’s be honest…no, this is bad season and last night summed up the Rox season of wins. They got enough offense. Some doubles. Some homers. And had at least one pitcher (Friedrich) who threw horribly and almost gave the game away. That is the Rox winning formula.

Their losing formula….EVERY OTHER TYPE OF GAME!!!!!

Of course because they fried the bullpen, wasted Kyle Kendrick (I think that might be a good thing for the team overall), tonight we get a new set of bad arms to take the Rox to the All-Star Break (I really expect to see a lot of changes after the Break and I think we need to set our optomism as a winning record post-AS break).

Among those great new arms is recently cut by the Cubs and grabbed by the Rox (thanks to the whole, sucky teams get first shot at sucky players rule) – Gonzalez Germen and his 6 innings of 7.50 ERA 2.17WHIP pitching. Also we get Aaron Laffey from AAA for the pen. Never heard of him? Neither have I. And I watch AAA baseball!!!

Come quickly AS break, we need you!!!!

Position Rockies Position Braves
CF Blackmon 2B Peterson
2B DJ CF Maybin
3B Arenado RF Markakis
RF CarGo 1B K Johnson
1B Paulsen 3B C Johnson
C Hundley C Pierznski (AKA baseball’s biggest jackass
SS Descalso LF Gomes
LF Barnes SS Simmons
P German P Miller

By the way, Shelby Miller has a chance in the next few years to be a top 15 pitcher in the NL. So enjoy watching the kid.

Also, check out my series on the TOP 5 BIGGEST MISTAKES OF THE ROCKIES SINCE 2007. I did the honorable mentions first. Next I will post my discussion on the signing of Tulo and CarGo

I have to say……….I’ll laugh my a** off if a guy the Rox claimed off waivers for essentially nothing because he has “stuff” comes out tonight and gives them 4 to 5 innings of decent ball without any tutelage from within the Rox system. They’ll hear me laughing in Denver (from FoCo).
