IN GAME CHAT

Like the Miami series, I’m predicting no more than eight runs over four games in Atlanta.
looks like they will get all 8 runs tonight so the next three we will be shutout? 🙂
Yep. Shut out over next three games.
Already have 2 runs in 2 innings!!!!
Greg Reynolds was DFA’d by the Reds yesterday. Maybe he’ll be the starter on Thursday. I think they said that Francis would just be used in the pen.
I was disappointed when they sent Boggs down the other day and kept Lopez.
Game calling by Rosario was awful. Batters looked silly on sliders and you give them fastballs on next pitch that were hit hard. Didn’t help Arenado had the error, else we would have been in the dugout leading 5-1.
Utterly, disgustingly, pathetically, predicatable. I thought Torrealba normally catches Jorge? Brainless pitch selection, whoever was responsible. This team WILL find a way to lose, in the most ridiculous way possible. Arenado, so full of possibility, so close to the edge.
As I’ve stated here, I’m not a Rosario fan. Or at least as a catcher. But DLR is the Vet.He doesn’t have to throw a pitch if he doesn’t want to. So I blame that as much or more on DLR. But what’s with Weiss. When DLR is pitching well Walt takes him out early. Today when he he lost it early he kept him in. So far that’s been his biggest problem as a manager. Handling the pitchers. Of… Read more »
Particularly stupid article by Terry Frei in the DP today, something like “Rockies Have the Talent But Results Don’t Follow.” Then he says the lineup is strong with the exception of 1B and 3B (too old/too young). And the starting pitching is good with the exception of the 4th/5th starters. Add to that well below average play at 2B and a spotty bullpen, and, well, you’ve got a team struggling to get to .500 …. exactly what the talent level… Read more »
I’m expecting just two wins or less on this road trip. The game just doesn’t surprise me at all. We pitch well but don’t hit. Or vice versa. WE have not had the symmetry all year.
Renck dishes out a healthy dose of realism in this morning’s DP: “To reach 88 wins, the likely minimum threshold to claim the division, the Rockies would have to go 37-18 over their last 55 games. To post their first winning record since 2010, a 31-24 mark is required.” Not gonna happen. In previous years the wildcard has been dangling out there, but not this year. Rockies are 8 games behind both Hurdle’s Pirates and the Reds, with the Dbacks… Read more »
And why, oh why, do we let go of guys like Affeldt, Lopez, Darren Oliver, and so on down the line, who have pitched well for us and CERTAINLY go on and do well elsewhere?
In other news Seth Smith is 0 for his last 32 at the plate.
And the person that should have been the Rockies coach in 2013 hit a walk off homerun last night for the Indians.
I’ve reached a strange and fragile state of equanimity where I have let go of wanting them to contend, since they’re clearly not, and I can (more or less) just watch and enjoy the good parts. Last night: moral victory 🙂 (They hit and scored a lot on the road for once.) Somewhere around .500 would be in line with the level of improvement that could be expected over last year, I guess, and Krieger says that with another year… Read more »
I’m no optimist, but at this point, reading some of the posts, mine own included, *I* don’t even want to read around here anymore. LOL
I’m hoping the team flirts with .500 and second place in the division. To me, that would be a success.
My goal is to finish second and get 80 wins. That’s major progress.

Despite the author’s continuous and annoying reference to how great a hitters park Coors is, interesting stats.
