Just heard that Dante is leaving as hitting coach. Not sure if he jumped or he was pushed. liked the hire when I heard it but after the first month of the season Rockies did not hit on the road which was suppose to be his forte.

He expressed in the press conference that the grind of a 162-game season was too much time taken away from his family. Let’s see…..Vinny Castilla – next up!

But Dante made such progress with our hitters! How can he leave us now? What will we do? Does Carney Lansford have a job? So many questions!

Dante seems like a nice guy. He was horrible in this job. Every young player went the wrong way except Rosario. We would’ve been better off without a hitting coach, just let dads yell from the stands like Little League.

I respectfully disagree with you that Dante was not a good hitting coach. Dickerson, Blackmon, D.J. LeMahieu, Rosario, Rutledge (on second call up), and Arenado all exceeded our expectations. Tulo, Money, and CarGo did not regress under Dante. Dexter needs to play everyday to get into the rhythm. Ditto for Pacheco who didn’t really have a position that he could play regularly. In general, I’ve been seeing a lot of balls hit to opposite fields than ever before which is… Read more »

Rockies hitting rank, park adjusted, NL, counting back from this year: 2013: 11 2012: 13 2011: 14 2010: 13 2009: 7 2008: 12 2007: 6 I wonder which are the only two years when we made the playoffs? We continue to be obsessive about an organization (and fan base?) about improving our pitching while being deluded about our hitting. Sorry RMH, it wasn’t just about the variability in run output, it was also about just not being very good period.… Read more »

I was glad to hear that we are starting Jhoulys Chacin the best healthy starter tomorrow night for Todd’s final home stand. I hope they start Chatty again on Sunday in the final game of Todd’s career. Friday’s and Saturday’s games are going to be pretty much throw away games because we don’t have any starters left unless we want to give Pomeranz one last start instead of using him out of the pen.

Knowing this organization, they will probably run Jeff Francis out there to start one more game.

This TEAM is awful at hitting. You get a collection of individual good nights occassionally, but all in all it is very rare to have seen them come in and get 2 or 3 big hits in a single inning, which is needed to win games. There were a few stretches during the year where if we scored 3 or 4 runs that was considered a good day. You can’t have that. If not for that April I’m sure we’d… Read more »
