Was at the game and met and chatted with “Ed the Ump.” Chatting with Ed was definitely the highlight of an otherwise dreadfully slow game. Most pitchers just aren’t good early. Watched Sonny Grey yesterday and he really struggled. Today – both DLR and Garza were awful. Brothers pitched an inning and his velocity appeared excellent, but he didn’t know where the ball was going. SCCarp, love your insight for those of us not able to get down there…You think LeMahieu will continue to impress over Josh without question?

It sounds to me like the leadoff hitter will come from the 2nd base or CF slots. So if you look at those candidates…..I think LeMahieu has the best chance to make himself a pseudo leadoff hitter (none of the candidates are ideal). He’s patient, runs surprisingly well, and plays solid defense. I maintain CF will ultimately be Stubbs and Barnes because they can play defense and cover ground in CF.
