The Colorado Rockies face another tough lefty this evening when they step-in against 2012 AL Cy Young Award winner David Price (1-2, 5.21) of the Tampa Bay Rays in a 6:10 pm MDT start at Coors Field in Denver. The Rockies will send right-hander Jon Garland (2-2, 4.65) out to oppose Price. Garland is coming off a 6 inning, 3 earned-run outing at the Diamondbacks last Sunday. He’s been delivering the basic “innings-eating” starts Colorado been looking for, lasting at least 6 innings in each start, but the last 2 have been losses. Price will be making his 7th 2013 start. He didn’t record his first win until Sunday at Chicago, and has been banged-around a couple of times.
The Rockies, branded “wimps” and “pussies” this morning by the RWO faithful, have Dexter Fowler and Troy Tulowitzki back in the lineup to face Price, but Carlos Gonzalez will sit. Tampa Bay manager Joe Maddon has swapped left-handed hitters Matt Joyce and Rockie killer James Loney into his configuration to confront the righty Garland.
Denver’s fair-to-middlin’ weather will continue into the evening, temperatures dropping to the lower 50°s as game time approaches. Wind will be fairly brisk, blowing across and in from right to left at 8-9 MPH. Relative humidity will rise to 50% in the latter innings.
It’s Vinny Castilla bobblehead night at Coors Field tonight. More props for the antics of Frazier and Goodman on ROOT. Jerry and Jeff will be over on am 850 KOA.

The David Price of this season is not the David Price of season’s past. The toughest pitcher of this series was faced last night. I’m am looking forward to Cobb and Chacin tomorrow.
Mike, i gotta say i really love having you on this site – especially your scouting reports on the Rays…it would be sweet to have someone familiar with every teams strength/weaknesses before each series like they followed them every day…my dream when starting RWO was to have 30 sites (raysWalkOff.com, YanksWalkOff.com, SoxWalkOff.com, etc.) I even locked up the MLBWalkOff.com URL to tie them all together…Ah, such dreams when i started…now i realize that i can barely do one teams page,… Read more »
You do a phenomenal job with this site. Your coverage is top notch. I think the participants here are second to none. We may not all agree on everything but we are all Rockies fans to the core.
Yeah exactly jaredean, you do do a great job. Everybody does that contributes to this site. I agree Mike, we all don’t agree on everything but we all have good civil discussions too. It’s good to see everybodys points of view as it relates to the Rox and their games. One thing for sure, we all are very big Rox fans and want them to win.
There is one piece of irony happening tonight. Vinny Castilla bobble head night with the opponents the Rays. LMAO. I’m sorry but this is one of those things that you would have to be a Rays fan for some time to truely appreciate. “Cuz” is much beloved here. I think you would hard pressed to find any Rays fan willing to give him the same type of adoration. It’s not as bad as Rockies fans and Mike Hampton but the… Read more »
I only watched the last few innings of the game last night so I didn’t see the Fowler play and can’t comment on it. But I see that Tulo and Weiss are taking a beating for Tulo not playing last night. And then when he pinch-hit, he was walked, and then he was out of the game. But Weiss said in spring training that he was going to be careful with Tulo. He, and I would guess we, want him… Read more »
