Not sure why Colvin isn’t in the lineup…Maybe Pooter has more power in Texas than any of us believe!!!
Nice mental lapse from Scutaro… AGAIN.
don’t forget to add EY2 staying on 2nd on pass ball…..just amazing how at times the Nuts are playing better headsup ball.
Go Rox …
Possibly can blame EYJ, though I don’t really blame someone for going the conservative route in the 9th inning.
What I don’t understand is why is pomeranz in AAA working on things and white is allowed to suck it up at the big league level??? This team makes no sense and is unbelievably frustrating to be a fan of.
I was thinking the exact same thing…so Pomeranz’ mechanics are supposedly “bad” but he gets people out and White’s mechanics are supposedly adequate but he doesn’t get outs. Hmm.
The real answer is $. Rockies trying to milk 1 more year out of Pomeranz.
Seriously prog? You really believe it’s the money? White has really tanked since adapting this new concept of 75 pitches and have a nice day crap. Was he great before this started? No, but who has been? No one. There have been ups and downs for everyone. Some, more downs. So Pomeranz has had a couple of good games in a row now? I’m also struggling with this whole leave Guthrie in the BP to drive up some trade value… Read more »
It has to be the “money” why else would the Rockies be using their best MLB starting pitcher (with or without the 75 pitch stunt) at AAA Colorado Springs? Add to that the mistery that they only want Pomeranz to pitch 150-170 innings in 2012.
The Sky Sox say thank you DanO!!!
Truely a sad commentary for the Rockies starters if Pomeranz is their best starter. 0-2 and 4.70.
Probably a dumb comment, but Scutaro seems to have his head more in the game + play better in general when he’s at short.
Very strange, but was thinking the exact same thing, although it does not make any logical sense.
The logical sense is he sees his trade value increasing as a SS.
Couldn’t understand why Drew and Dribble got on Scutaro’s case when EY started then stopped. EY2 needs another address to ply his “trade”
Scutaro looked like he lost his balance on the pop up slide and that’s why he came off the bag to get out.
sabrchip…have to agree. What bothers me more is TWICE Edud2 had the opportunity to move up to 3rd and both times he failed to do so. For those who think he was being conservative since it was the 9th inning….are we in a title race right now? Watch other team’s runners and how often they advance given the opportunity. It’s time to cut out those who just are not major leaguers. This is starting to get silly and I am… Read more »
Because Scutaro was safe – it isn’t that EYj made a very stupid mistake by not going to 3rd on the pop-up (with his speed if he was standing on 2nd and the ball was dropped he would be home), or that he didn’t go on the pass ball, but the sheer fact that Scutaro was safe and left the bag before checking…i don’t buy his, “don’t know if i was pushed or what happened” – he is not mentally… Read more »
That’s two base running errors (EY not moving up on CarGo’s sac fly & Scutaro walking off the bag) in the 9th continuing the season long habit of base running blunders. That reflects our coaching/managing ability. It comes down simply to this as quoted by Woody Paige: “Can the Dan”. That’s at least the third boneheaded play by Scutaro this year: walking off the bag assuming he was out, moving up to catch throw from catcher on stolen base attempt… Read more »
RMH, you cited EXACTLY what I’ve been steaming over since he left the bag safe last night – he has made a few doozy mental errors so far this season (the standing there when the ball was thrown to him without even touching 2nd and looking stunned was the worst until this one), and I for one yelled at the TV, “I’m DONE with SCUTARO!” last night…i usually don’t yell at the TV when watching with my family (my son… Read more »
I can’t believe what I saw. EY made one boneheaded play. Scuturo made 2. 1st he can’t assume that EY was running, although he should have been. And 2nd when he stepped off the base after being called safe. An in my opinion he clearly stepped off voluntarily. And he brings us veteran presence?
Glad I missed most of the game. And I’ll watch some tonight but to see Strasburg and Harper not our Rockies.
