Ryan Theriot: Serious?

Don’t know how serious it is, but there is word that the Rockies are interested in Ryan Theriot (.271|.321|.342). What are your thoughts on this possibility?  Personally i really like calling him The Riot whenever he comes to bat, so it would be fun in that regard, but I’m always leery of a player that has been non-tendered and still not picked up this late in the game.

He would be solid, slightly below replacement level, which would be a huge improvement over what transpired at 2nd base in 2011. At this point I feel we need to give Nelson the Jayson Nix treatment and say you either are going to make it as the MLB starter or you’re gone. How much longer can they carry him at Colorado Springs? Better to give the time to someone else. I really hope he has a huge spring.

No upside to Theriot for me. We already have Jonathan Herrera. The Braves are now be alleged to have interest in signing Theriot.
