Series Split in the Mix

The Rockies “vowed” that they wouldn’t take the Astros lightly going into the series in Houston.  Coming into the final game between the two teams, Colorado is looking at losing the twin-bill series 3-1.  If they win tonight they will split both series, but nobody will be jumping for joy as the Astros are on the path to 100 losses.

That is unless they play the Rockies for the rest of the season.

The problem is, if the team doesn’t win these types of series against teams that are beggin’ to be beat, what chance do they have against the Dodgers who will have Kershaw, Greinke and Ryu on the mound.  Ryu tore up the team the last time they faced him and there is no sign he will let up as he comes to Coors riding a 6-2 record with a 2.89 ERA.  Kershaw is looking even better at 5-3 with a microscopic 1.68 ERA.

• RHP Juan Nicasio will make his 11th start of the 2013 season tonight.  The right-hander is 2-0 with a 3.54 ERA (20.1 ip, 8 er) in four starts at Coors Field this season. Tonight will be Nicasio’s third career start against the Astros, against whom he has no record with a 4.15 ERA (13.0 ip, 6 er).

• RHP Lucas Harrell will make his 12th start of the 2013 campaign tonight.  The right-hander is 1-2 with a 3.00 ERA (24.0 ip, 8 er) on the road. This will be his second career start at Coors Field, where he is 0-1 with a 16.20 ERA (5.0 ip, 9 er).

We are awful tonight again. First two innings we left 4 in scoring positions on base. Harrell will end up pitching 7 innings and a W with a 4-2 victory. #awfulRISP

Yes there were some boos but they were not passionate boos. More like, is it ok if we boo?

I’ve booed at games before. The stiffs around me just looked at me with a confused look like, “You can’t boo out loud in a library.”

This organization continues to deliver new lows. But hey, “we have sun and Coors Field” so its all good right? Pathetic. Drew Goodman meanwhile with his depth of baseball insight and vocabulary labels the week a “disappointment”. What a company jackass.

The Rockies just look complacent in the dugout after the game. Where is the fire? Do the Rockies management even want a player with fire on the team? I really doubt it.

You get 4 games against the Astros as your new interleague “rival”, you want to kiss the schedule maker for handing you a huge favor. I mean, the Mets have to deal with the Yankees every year. KC has to deal with the Cards. The Dodgers and Angels knock heads against each other’s bloated salaries. So you ought to be feeling good if you’re the Rockies. Except, umm, you’re the Rockies. And you WILL find a way to screw it… Read more »

Silver lining: goodbye for now, Mr. Nicasio!

I have to say, I seriously doubt it. They’re still treating Nicasio with kid gloves, I can’t see them punishing him by sending him out. I see another 2 starts at least. What I still don’t get, is yes, Nicasio is being pounded with 4 straight hits in the 6th, but he exits the game still with a lead. You pull him and his replacement gets slammed with back to back HRs. This loss is on Lopez as much or… Read more »

Same as it ever was. Winning equals expectations equals folding like Aunt Lucy’s card-table.
