Should We Trade DLR or Not?

Rumors has the Baltimore Orioles having interest in JDLR.  It is a matter of matching up the pieces.  How is Matt Wieters’ game calling and defense?  Or should we keep him as we need a steady winner at Coors Field?

Just a thought – throw in Wilin Rosario with JDLR for Wieters and prospects and/or second baseman?

RMH, love the question! I have written the “word on the street” that they didn’t re-up him in the off-season because they wanted the freedom to deal him if things went bad and then re-signing him in the off-season. I heard DLR loves it here, loves what the Rox have done for him, and wants to be here. If by July 31 they are not within 6 games of the Wild Card (think that is the outisde limit to have… Read more »

RMH, that viewpoint fails to understand how they are all interconnected. When Nolan got hurt, the left-side defense became a sieve. Their entire plan to get pitchers that sink the ball and allow hitters to hit it because you catch it, goes awry when your defense stinks. Its the reason that Nolan’s injury, in my opinion, was followed by pitching failures even among good pitchers. Rosario’s defense, or lack there of (not throwing) means with hitters on 3rd and needing… Read more »

FYI…I also do not believe this is the best offense in history either. If you look at performance on the road, performance in high-leverage situations, and late-games, they have been a very average team. Also, they have had their worst hitting performances when they had good pitching, and best hitting often in games when their pitching is providing the same opportunity to the opponent. I do like the drag factor calculation (I am a SABR person for the most part…though… Read more »

Wouldn’t mind renting him out and then resigning him this winter but I think he is a keeper. His record at Coors is remarkable and with all the lefties we now have his veteran experience could be invaluable to the youngsters.

No, don’t trade him.
I’d like to see the Rox win at least a few more games this year, and DLR is their best chance. Besides, they would end up trading him for nothing anyway.
