Another Rockies player took NL Player of the Week honors for the most recent week, this time Nolan Arenado. After the Giants played like the Rockies circa June/July/half Aug last night, they look to continue their march toward their mortality at AT & T Park tonight. This time Madison Bumgarner (14-9, 3.17) will answer the call to rescue the Dwarfs. Jorge De La Rosa (13-8, 4.21) has a plan of his own – get his 14th win of the season to match Bumgarner’s win total. If there is a a highlight of the Rockies’ season, they are 5-2 at AT & T park this year throwing a bunch of monkeys off their backs. They even won a one-run game last night which is a rarity versus the Dwarfs.
As of late, Colorado have played a major spoiler role in the post season races which is a testimony to their character. With seven wins in the last ten games, they have been major speed bumps for Cincinnati (3 of 4), Kansas City (1-1 split), Miami (2 of 3), and San Francisco (1 game).
