Swept Again…Ho-Hum

After eight straight losses there really isn’t much to say…So instead of trying to explain it, or even analyze it, lets just hear from the team themselves:

[Jarrod Parker] just came right at us and got strike one and when you’re 0-1 like that, it’s a lot easier for him to pitch.

Tyler Colvin

[Parker] was terrific, he pitched extremely well and we could do very little with it.  It was a game similar to the C.J. Wilson game in that he threw strikes with all his pitches, had a real good changeup, his slider was very effective because it was a strike out of the hand and a ball once it reached the plate…the number of first-pitch strikes he threw was big.

Jim Tracy

Everything’s fine [with his finger]…Tracy was a little bit worried about it, but I’m not sure why they pulled me. I wanted to keep pitching, but things happen and I can’t change it.

Alex White

Alex had his moments, back and forth…When he was good, he was throwing strikes early, opening the door for his split-finger. We made the one throwing error that cost us. When he got off, it’s ball one and ball two, and some of the lefties got him.

Jim Tracy

Nobody likes losing, everybody is frustrated and angry, no doubt about that. But that doesn’t mean you quit. Sometimes you have to learn the hard way. We still have 90-plus games. The season is not going to stop for us.

Michael Cuddyer

It was a dreadful home-stand, no question about it. We’ve got a long road [trip] coming up…Hopefully some of the things that are not right will be much better when we come back.

Hey guys, here’s a thought. So it’s understood that our team makes opposing batters, that have been struggling all year, look like Josh Hamilton against us So, what if it isn’t the pitchers problem alone, but could some of the blame, or even much of it, be placed upon the “Call of the game” behind the dish? What I’m wondering is, are the signs being given for pitch location ones that are being scouted/stolen by other teams easily? Or, even… Read more »

All good questions. My 1st thought is that if so many teams were stealing the signs then many others – dugout, infielders, even Drew and George would probably figure it out. The camera guys might even pick up on signs being stolen on a consistent basis. I hope our catchers are much smarter than that.

I think it is more related to control/pitch location. Watch the replay of the home runs being hit. It’s ridiculous.

Again, ad nauseum, what’s the pitching coach’s responsibility in this? We should also remember that the combined major league experience of our current healthy catchers is what?????? Snake bit is a hardly worthy description of this team when all you can see it a pair of spikes hanging out the mouth of the python that is slowly digesting the reptilian delights that are the Rox. I not sure “wait ’til next year” is something I want to do. That future… Read more »

I think its a bit of everything. Bad location, bad game calling, bad pitch selection. How many times have our pitchers made opposing hitters look BAD.

I mean the other teams make our good hitters like Cargo and Tulo look bad all the time. They know what pitches to throw when. Our guys seem to not have a clue. Part of that is young pitching and young catching. Another part is having maybe the worst pitching coach in the league.

Guess there’s no chat tonight. Just wanted to say that doesn’t this team have any advance scouts? Was EY warned about Coke’s move? So we lose Giambi so EY can get thrown out? Now with Helton on 2nd is when you need a pinch-runner
