I personally believe that, while history will recognize Cabrera for winning the triple-crown, it will be Mike Trout that will be remembered as the better overall player this season. To do what he did, AS A ROOKIE, is unheard of and should be put together with everything else when voting. The MVP isn’t a hitting based award alone, but the most valuable player overall and Trout more than proved that – to me at least. I think the kicker in… Read more »
what you said
I’m not voting on a question for that “other” league. You know, the one with all the biggest payrolls that has lost 3 straight World Series and All-Star games. Now, with the Astros changing leagues the NL can start winning the inter-league play as well.
Truthfully, I was so disheartened by the Rockies season I just didn’t pay attention to what was going on with other teams like I normally would have.
MVP, ROY, and Gold Gloves are all politics and voted based on your loyalty. Tulo clearly was ROY over Braun cuz Tulo led the Rockies to the postseason and had a gold glove caliber defense while Braun made a ton of errors at 3B and the Brewers were nowhere near the postseason. Jimmy Rollins for MVP over Holliday? Rollins were surrounded by the East Coast media and the all star teammates up and down the lineup while he not even… Read more »
But, hype aside, who do you think really deserves MVP?
The Angels have an MVP calibre rookie. A couple great hurlers. A great manager. Several all-stars. Gold glove winners. Hall of Famers….and the team didn’t make the playoffs………WTF?
I guess Angels fans could do the same as we did. Blame it on Iannetta. :>)
ha! classic!
The Angels dug themselves too deep of a hole before Trout arrived on the scene to rally back into the postseason dance.
Voted for Trout hands down; the Angels were floundering until Trout burst on the scene. Cabrerra and Tigers are same old things. I don’t look at stats 100%; I look at how they influenced the team for the better.
I don’t have a problem with either one but…the Angels couldn’t make the playoffs with him in the lineup…the Tigs couldn’t have made the playoffs w/o Cabrera. All the awards (Players’ choice, ESPY’s, Rolaids, etc…) should be consolidated into an MLB only group of awards. Best Rookie overall (NL,AL combined) Best Rookie pitcher and position player Best pitcher overall Best pitcher in league Most valuable player each league Best performance by a player overall (combined leagues, Player of the Year)… Read more »
Body of work: Cabrera.
Remember Joe Charboneau.
