Tulo #1 SS in top 10 SS shown

Watching the MLB Network show talking about the top 10 shortstops in baseball last night, Tulo was #1 followed by Jose Reyes.  Jimmy Rollins wasn’t even in the top 10 and Derek Jeter was barely there at #10.  This was a really unbiased rating IMO.  The show talked about both defense and their bat.  I thought it was very good reporting when they were talking about Starlin Castro (why he isn’t top 10) and they showed videos of Tulo and Castro fielding hard ground balls in almost exact same location.  Castro’s video had him throwing the ball away while Tulo had an accurate throw because of far better techniques.

Watched it, too…and I agree it was very unbiased and pretty accurate…but like Larry Bowa said, Tulo is head and shoulders above 2-10…I don’t think it’s even that close with Reyes…and Castro had no business in the top 10, which is why he wasn’t…too erratic in the field…

It felt like the “tulo show” every time they would announce someone and show their stats it was always, “they are X behind Tulo, who we will be talking about later in the show…he is only bested by Tulo, who you might see coming up…” I personally loved it and if ANYONE (and believe it or not there are some out there) that don’t think this guy is legit across the board, they are living on some other planet, probably… Read more »

I have to get back to work but all this snow on the ground gives me spring fever. I don’t think there’s any doubt that Tulo is the #1 shortstop in baseball and I have to agree with Reyes as #2. Didn’t see the program so don’t know who else they had listed. Reyes is very good and very exciting but Tulo is better all around although Reyes can run like crazy. As for Tulo being #1 player in all… Read more »

I wouldn’t say Tulo is “frequently” injured…two of his stints on the DL were due to a shattered bat (which he slammed into the ground) cutting his palm and the second was from being hit by a pitch on the wrist up in Minnesota…

I certainly can’t think of a SS I would rather have. Good job MLB Network.

What I liked about the show was that they never once mentioned the Coors Field effect when talking about Tulo. Whenever they talk about Helton and his stats they always bring up the Coors Field effect but they didn’t do that about Tulo this time.
