Un-Freakin-Believable

Tonight’s game just pissed me off…too angry to do a post game.  Rox lost to the Astros 7-5 and dropped 3 of 4 to the last place team in the MLB.  Freak…

I don’t get a paper anymore, but if my perusing the online box scores and my 67 year old memory serves, the ROX left 50 men on base in this four game series.FREAKIN’ FIFTY–50–FIFTY.Nicasio is a 5 inning pitcher and that’s it.Maybe he is better suited as a power arm in the bull pen.But to be fair, when you can’t score more than a run when the other team makes 3 errors in an inning it ain’t all the pitching.I’ve got this… Read more »

Gary, I think it has been more than 50.

Cisco, where are you? Rox will finish May above .500. See you at Coors! Question: Houston and the Rockies are both coming off a couple awful seasons. They have completely different philosophies about becoming competitive. Houston pared salary to a minimum and started collecting prospects and high draft picks. The Rockies tried to patch together some short term fixes to become barely competitive while they wait (and hope) for some young players already in the system to make great leaps.… Read more »

Ag, Can’t make it out to the ballyard this weekend, too many things going on-wife’s birthday, grad parties, birthday parties, etc. Another words, more important things in life than handing over my hard earned cash to the owners of this team. I’m still not sold on this team just yet, specially after this past week. We’ll see how things are during the next homestand. As far as your question above, what team will be better in 3 years- The Rox… Read more »

We’re throwing away the game tonight with Garland up against Kershaw. I better see Garland released after the game tonight (Friday). Time’s up for the wait-and-see mode. Shake up the back end of the rotation NOW.

Un freakin believable … yep. 3rd inning … sucked. 6th inning … sucked. I was shocked that even a few hundred stuck around for the 9th. Prog brought up the boos in the 6th inning in another thread. Made me remember a post I did last year about maybe I have more east coast baseball in me than I want to admit. There is way more passion is starting and doing the wave than in the “excuse me for booing”… Read more »

This is kinda obvious, but I think they should move Nicasio to the pen. That solves two problems, hopefully. You’ll get a new starter that can pitch effectively past the 6th and you get a reliever that can really bring it to help lighten the load on an overworked pen.

Makes too much sense though. I trust O’Dowd/Geivo will make the right call.

I don’t post much, but I read Rox Walk Off every day. I watched the awful game yesterday and have a few things that I see. Weis, as is many managers is slow to replace a pitcher when it is very clear that the pitcher is falling off a cliff. I understand the confidence issue, but with a pitcher like Nicasio who has a hard time even getting to six innings the manager should be warming up a replacement or… Read more »

I read a lot of pitching talk here, most of which I completely agree with. What concerns me much more is like Gary said up top – the TOTAL inability to capitalize bigtime with runners in scoring position calls up ghosts of the bad, bad old days. This is what drove me absolutely nuts over and over and over. However, I am still going to choose to look at this as one of those stretches that every team goes through… Read more »

The fact the hometeam isn’t losing any ground is probably good. Nobody in this division wants to run away and hide. So…to make the playoffs, someone will have to win the division. I wonder…what’s the how y’all rank these issues: Helton’s offense being offensive. No getting the firemen ready until the blaze is an inferno. Youth movement that has failed to adjust to the opponents’ adjustments. Starting pitching that can’t make it to the 6th without a flamethrower. Veterans who… Read more »

Can one of you number-cruncher dudes post how many HRs the SS hits with 0-1 men on base, and how many he hits with 2-3 men on base? I’m betting the first number is higher.

With no men on base Tulo has 9 HRs. With one on base he has 2 HRs and with two runners on base he has 1 HR. However, with men on base he is batting .340 with 34 RBIs!

That stat needs some filler to make some sense. How many at bats in each situation. Guessing most came with bases empty.

Tulo is not the problem. Far from it.

The problem with the lack of clutch hitting isn’t one person, it’s everybody messing up in the same week. Even somebody who is a good clutch hitter will only get a big hit 3 or 4 times out of 10. So even the best hitters will make out more often than not. But what are the chances that everybody, or just about everybody, will slump at the same time. Next few weeks are mostly home games except for 3 in… Read more »
