When Will it Ever End?

Another game, another miss fest.  It isn’t like the Rockies didn’t have chances in  the 4-2 loss to the Marlins on Tuesday night. On the contrary, they were silly with shots at either tying the game or going ahead, but once again they couldn’t come through.

First things first: Chacin was mostly excellent on the mound.  He did fall victim to an incredibly hard come-backer that drilled him in the leg, but he got up and kept chipping away.  His final line should have been more than enough for the supposed “bullies” of Blake Street: 7IP, 8H, 3R, 4K’s on 98 pitches (70 strikes).

Sadly a line like that isn’t good enough for CarGo and the Silent Bunch.

When you go 0-7 with RISP a night after you went 0-6, you know you need a serious exorcism on the bats, balls and outfield wall.

The only bright spot on the night came from a Helton second deck home run, sadly a solo shot, in the second that put the Rockies up 1-0.  The only other offense came from a CarGo ground out RBI bringing home DJ LeMahieu after his lead-off triple.

This team may be smoke and mirrors.  It might be “sick” as a whole.  It very well could just be dormant and looking to awake.  Whatever it is, it is extremely frustrating when you are supposedly stacked with talent and can only put up eight runs TOTAL over your last nine losses.

Pathetic.

I tried to warn you all over the ASBthat the Marlins had the third best record since June 1st.Much of it with Stanton on the DL.Since Dex’s HR I think he is o-fer the second half to date.

Can we get some guys in here that can hit something other than solo homers?

Same as it ever was except we don’t have Carney L. to throw under the bus. Why not a peep about Bichette? I guess we don’t need a fall guy this year, because of low expectations. If the clubhouse culture was poor before, it stinks now. Where’s the pride?

Bichette vs. Lansford: one was a member of the 1995 Rockies, and he will not be bounced from the year-long class reunion. In reality I don’t think hitting coaches have anything to do with it. Better talent = better results.

Man, I just don’t know. Maybe I have trouble separating talent from potential or I’m fooled by the smoke and mirrors, but we had 3 legit all-stars, ie not simply fan favorite voted players plus IMO Rosario and Fowler are excellent players individually. I don’t think there are that many teams who you’d say have 5 players that would be starters on 2/3 of the MLB rosters. The problem is they can’t get on the same page for whatever reason.… Read more »

I will still root for them (and suffer), but the stark reality is that it is over. I think Agbayani once said it well, 2007 is probably on balance a great season, but it gives these guys false hope that they can rally and make the playoffs at the end. They’re simply not good enough to win more than half their games. 81 – 81 would be an outstanding season.

$100 says the prevailing excuse from management this year will be “injuries”. Nothing will be mentioned about how the offense even when healthy is not consistent.

Before the season just about everybody thought that our weakness would be our pitching. All in all our pitching has exceeded expectations. Chacin, DLR and Chatwood have more often (and much more) pitched great. Nicasio has shown flashes of talent but basically the 4th and especially the 5th spots have been black holes. Bullpen has been decent although not as good as the cheering section (Goodman, Frazier and Huson) claim. And they are beginning to show signs of tired arms.… Read more »

Did anyone see the post-game presser? If I had to cover this team I’d pull my hair out trying to get anything out of WW. He looks like he is heavily medicated, no life at all. If you go back to all his post-games throughout the year he has about 8/10 pat answers which he answers to every question (“he’s pressing right now, I’m confident, he did a good job.etc. etc….”)

Gosh, this is a boring team to watch.
