Another game, another miss fest. It isn’t like the Rockies didn’t have chances in the 4-2 loss to the Marlins on Tuesday night. On the contrary, they were silly with shots at either tying the game or going ahead, but once again they couldn’t come through.
First things first: Chacin was mostly excellent on the mound. He did fall victim to an incredibly hard come-backer that drilled him in the leg, but he got up and kept chipping away. His final line should have been more than enough for the supposed “bullies” of Blake Street: 7IP, 8H, 3R, 4K’s on 98 pitches (70 strikes).
Sadly a line like that isn’t good enough for CarGo and the Silent Bunch.
When you go 0-7 with RISP a night after you went 0-6, you know you need a serious exorcism on the bats, balls and outfield wall.
The only bright spot on the night came from a Helton second deck home run, sadly a solo shot, in the second that put the Rockies up 1-0. The only other offense came from a CarGo ground out RBI bringing home DJ LeMahieu after his lead-off triple.
This team may be smoke and mirrors. It might be “sick” as a whole. It very well could just be dormant and looking to awake. Whatever it is, it is extremely frustrating when you are supposedly stacked with talent and can only put up eight runs TOTAL over your last nine losses.
