Who Should We Move?

I know you are all saying “won’t happen.” ¬†I’m just putting the topic on the table for discussion among RWOers for our fantasy Rockies team. ūüôā

There is a great article written by Ken Rosenthal about trading Tulo. ¬†I believe that will ease the pressure building inside the Rockies’ organization. ¬†We can eventually thank Tulo for helping restore our minor league system and pitchers. ¬†In this article, he threw out some names and trading partners. ¬†sdcarp also brought up the Profar idea. ¬†Moving Tulo will erase Dick Montfort’s comments that we will “win once every five years.” ¬†Now he can’t say that without superstar Tulo on the team. ¬†Ease the expectations for the good of the team.

Baby Bull absolutely has to be moved to the AL where he can be a DH full time and be a back up catcher. ¬†In the same article by Rosenthal, he says that Rosario is a very poor game caller. ¬†One tweeter says that’s very true and he’s definitely hurt the pitching staff. ¬†Trade him for an AL second baseman with above average bat.

Back to the Tulo trade topic: ¬†Cubs have a surplus of shortstops; Ian Desmond doesn’t appear that he will be back with Washington next year; might Trevor Story break through in a couple of years? ¬†Another benefit of the Tulo trade – let somebody else suffer the consequences of his horrible late-and-close stats.

Matt Belisle – he won’t be back next year so give him away for something like a Chad Bettis type.

Give away DLR for something in return and then bring him back as a free agent for next year!

CarGo – that’s easy and just take the best offer.

Remember that any trades to be made would be handled by DOD (and not Agbayani). That makes any suggestions suspect in my mind. I think he (DOD, not Ag) has failed to demonstrate he knows anything about building a club. So trading a future potential HOF player in Tulo, or even moving CarGo would be a crap shoot as long as the club is ruled by the incompetence of this front office.

I don’t think you move Cargo until you find out what you have. Tulo can wait until after the season if you want to move him. Move Rosario in the morning! Pacheco was a better catcher than Rosario and we moved him. Colorado Thistle, has it correct, if DOD moves them, then what will we get. Move DOD in the morning, too!

I was working on a similar idea for an article. If we leave CarGo and Tulo out of this (that really is an off-season discussion when more teams will be part of the discussion), I think there are only 4 untouchables: 1) Dickerson – too young with too much control and potential growth. 2) Matzek – kid has looked decent in his first taste of the bigs. Seems to have what it will take to make this rotation in 2015.… Read more »

With Charlie Blackmon hitting another one out tonight, I still don’t include him in the keeper list. His value is as high as ever and although they are still a year away from another pure lead-off guy coming (if David Dahl moves up this 2nd half and is successful), but I get the sense that there are teams out there that would over-pay for what Blackmon brings. With the cheap contract…I would buy Blackmon before CarGo.

Use Barnes as trade bait.An outfield of healthy Cargo, the new improved Stubbs, and Blackmon is a damn fine trio.I’ve been impressed with everyone’s restraint this summer on this site compared to years past.I believe it’s because we all saw something in this teams potential in April before the M.A.S.H auditions began. If we had stayed healthy we would be talking about what tweaks the ROX would need to push to the playoffs.I think a healthy competitive 2nd half might lessen Tulos desire… Read more »

Gary, I agree, if they go into next year with CarGo, and then Stubbs, Blackmon, and Dickerson to fill the two other positions (and maybe Parker if he is not used as trait bait as well), that make a very good offensive OF and on certain nights, a solid to plus defensive one (as long as Dickerson stops diving and Blackmon practices his groundball management). Barnes’s PH ability, speed and defense – and he is cheap – is what team… Read more »
